mysqldump compatibility mode
Well since I solved one MySql problem yesterday I decided to see if I could fix another that has annoyed me, moving data from MySql version 14.x to 12.x using mysqldump proved more difficult than I expected, thanks to 14.x mysqldump using incompable defaults. So like any good sysadmin, I visited the mysqldump man page. For some reason, it looks like a complete man page, but in reality they left off lots of options, that you can only learn about by reading mysqldump –help | less
Here is the section I needed.
--compatible=name Change the dump to be compatible with a given mode. By default tables are dumped in a format optimized for MySQL. Legal modes are: ansi, mysql323, mysql40, postgresql, oracle, mssql, db2, maxdb, no_key_options, no_table_options, no_field_options. One can use several modes separated by commas. Note: Requires MySQL server version 4.1.0 or higher. This option is ignored with earlier server versions.

I googled mysqldump comptability and this was the first hit. It's also exactly what a needed. Thank you!
I saw this option is possible with phpMyAdmin but if you have really large DB, then phpMyAdmin does not help a lot. I also looked at the man pages and this option was not mentioned there, so again I also seearched with Google for mysql compatibility and this was the first hit. Thank's a lot!
