Scale with rails compares

ZFS + Solaris 11 + Zones to FreeBSD can Solaris beat the lighter weight solution?

Very interesting read compares FreeBSD vs. Solaris Express and Solaris Express in raw numbers.

And they didn’t even scratch the surface of what Solaris Express can do. They didn’t mention

* ZFS clones, snapshots, rollbacks built in compression

* Dtrace Application tuning and debugging

* SMF – that keeps your pagers from going off in the middle of the night, and increases your productivity during the day.

* BrandZ – run Linux applications with no recompile in a zone.

And they just glanced over Zones that allows users to scale apps that weren’t built to scale.

Hey, it wasn't mentioned because I haven't built it yet. :-)

We use zfs for strongspace, and people already are very happy with the compression.
